Living with undiagnosed ADHD can be overwhelming no matter your age, particularly when you’re left feeling misunderstood and frustrated that some things feel harder than they should.
At Dr Jo Gee Psychological Therapies, we offer ADHD assessments for adults, children and adolescents. We also provide access to ongoing support, whether that involves therapy, medication or a combination of both, all delivered by our experienced, multidisciplinary team.
We aim to offer assessments within a month of initial contact, so you’re not left waiting for answers and can get the support you need.

For many people, these experiences have nothing to do with ability or effort. They can be signs of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain regulates focus and emotional responses.
If you’re considering an ADHD assessment and would like to talk things through first, we’re happy to help.
You can get in touch via phone or our website contact form to arrange an initial consultation and discuss whether an assessment is right for you or your child.
“From start to finish, it taught me so much about myself.”
“Thank you for challenging me when I needed it.”
“I can’t believe how much progress I’ve made in a short time.”
“After many years of therapy, you are the first person who gets me.”
Our assessments may be helpful if:
We assess both straightforward and more complex presentations of ADHD, including where ADHD may overlap with other difficulties. For example, some people with ADHD may also display symptoms of autism (ASD).
If you’re interested in being assessed for both ASD and ADHD at the same time, look into our ASD and ADHD Combined Assessment.
We aim to make the assessment process as clear, supportive and straightforward as possible.
We don’t rush through assessments or just tick a few boxes. We take time to ensure our assessments are careful, ethical and thorough.
Once you contact us, the process includes:
With many people seeking ADHD assessments, we do things differently to give you the answers and support you need as soon as possible.
We offer a joined-up approach to care with a range of options. These include:
You don’t need to seek out different providers – assessment, treatment and therapy can all be accessed within the same experienced team at Dr Jo Gee Psychological Therapies.
Just because you don’t receive a diagnosis doesn’t mean your difficulties aren’t valid. Instead, we’ll continue to work with you to provide:
Whatever the outcome, we don’t leave you without direction or support.
ADHD brains work differently, especially in areas linked with stimulation and dopamine regulation.
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter involved in motivation and the brain’s reward system that keeps us on track. ADHD brains receive lower or less consistent dopamine levels, making it harder to focus on individual thoughts or pay attention to tasks that feel repetitive or unstimulating.
This doesn’t mean those with ADHD can’t focus on anything. Many with ADHD become deeply absorbed in things they find particularly interesting or rewarding since this gives their brain the stimulation and dopamine it needs more easily.
ADHD doesn’t look the same for everyone either. Some might exhibit physical hyperactivity, while others feel restless in their mind, struggling with organisation and juggling intense emotional responses. These quieter presentations are surprisingly common, particularly in women or adults, and often go missed or misunderstood for years.

Even if you’ve lived your whole life so far without an ADHD diagnosis, an assessment can still make a huge difference. An ADHD assessment helps people make sense of all those lifelong difficulties they’ve been living with for years and finally understand themselves better.
An ADHD assessment can help in several important ways:
An ADHD assessment can explain a lot about what you’ve been going through for years. In fact, many adults reach later life without a diagnosis, having spent a long time feeling as though they’re failing at things others manage more easily. Understanding how ADHD might have impacted your life can stop you blaming yourself and help you realise what you need to thrive instead.
ADHD symptoms are often most obvious at work as they affect focus, organisation, motivation and time management. An assessment might explain all those missed deadlines, why you get burnt out more easily than your colleagues, or why you can’t pay attention in meetings no matter how hard you try. This can lead to reasonable adjustments that make your working life much more manageable.
ADHD has a huge impact on children, adolescents and students as it can impact learning, behaviour, confidence and even emotional wellbeing. If your child has any behavioural or motivational issues at school, getting your child an ADHD assessment helps their school understand your child’s needs and put the right support in place.
ADHD influences how you communicate as well as your emotional responses to social interactions. This can put a strain on relationships, whether it’s with your partner, colleagues, family or friends. Understanding how ADHD affects your relationships can make sense of why the same challenges might keep appearing, helping you communicate more effectively and maintain healthier relationships.
Whatever the outcome of an assessment, it can guide your next steps, from therapeutic support to practical strategies. Even when ADHD is not diagnosed, assessments often provide valuable guidance and direction to improve your life.
For those with an ADHD diagnosis, assessments inform treatment decisions, whether it’s therapy, medication or a combination of both. We don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach at Dr Jo Gee Psychological Therapies; treatment is discussed carefully and collaboratively, and all support is tailored to you as an individual.
